Tropical Smoothies

Serves 4

Kids Rating: ✭✭✭✭✭ 

Use very ripe bananas with brown freckles to achieve a sweet tropical banana flavor.

 

Ingredients: 

4 ripe bananas

2 cups unsweetened frozen pineapple chunks

2 cups 2% milk

1/8 cup heavy cream

1/8 cup sugar

2 Tbsps. shredded, sweetened coconut for garnish

Fresh pineapple wedges for garnish

Directions: 

Place all ingredients in a blender and process on ice crush or puree for 3-4 minutes until very smooth.  A frothy , light consistency is the desired texture of a breakfast fruit smoothy, not a heavy, thick milk-shake.  Serve immediatley.  Garnish with fresh pineapple and shredded coconut if desired.

Note:  Smoothies are also a delicious quick after school snack.

Note:  If using large bananas, you may need to add additional milk to achieve proper consistency.

Variation:  Omit pineapple and replace with an equal amount of frozen mango.
