1 loaf stale baguette, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes

4 cups 2 % milk

1 cup granulated sugar

4 Tbps. salted butter, melted

6 golden delicious apples, peeled cored and sliced into 1/2 inch wedges

3 large eggs

2 Tbsps. vanilla

1 cup raisins

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. nutmeg

Faux Whiskey Sauce:

4 Tbsp. salted butter melted

3/4 cups powdered sugar

1 egg yolk

1 cup sparkling apple cider

2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350༠F.

In a large bowl combine, mix together eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter.  Add milk, vanilla, raisins, pecans, apples, and cubes of  bread.  Mixture should be very moist, but not soupy.  Pour pudding mixture into a buttered 9×9 baking dish.  Place on middle rack and bake for 1 hour, until golden brown.  Remove from oven and allow to cool.

Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, cream butter and powdered sugar until all the sugar is absorbed.  Remove from heat and whisk in egg yolk.  Pour in apple cider and vanilla, stirring constantly.  Sauce will thicken as it cools.  Drizzle over warm bread pudding and serve.
