Sugar-Free Cranberry Sauce

12 oz. bag fresh cranberries, washed, unripe and soft cranberries removed

1/2 cups unsweetened apple sauce

1/2 cup 100% pure maple syrup

3/4 cup orange juice

1 tsp orange zest

1/4 tsp. salt


In a large saucepan over medium heat, add cranberries, applesauce, maple syrup, orange juice, salt, and orange zest and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has reduced.  You’ll hear the cranberries popping – don’t worry, that’s what you want them to do. Remove from heat and serve.

Do Ahead: Cranberry sauce can be made the day before the feast and brought to room temperature before serving.
